This news has been making rounds all across the internet and among the people who are interested in going and settling abroad specifically in Canada.
The Canada Student visa has been at its peak demand and thousands of students have been accepted by international universities of Canada. All things were going great then what did really happen that Quebec came to this particular decision of not giving Work permit to students after they complete their graduation?
Let us understand the whole scenario:
Rohan got Student visa in Canada (Province Quebec) from Ahmedabad. He was happiest to get admission even at low grades. He thought that at least he is getting admission and will also have work permit extended for 3 years after completion of his graduation, it hardly matters that the institute is private institute. As he went there and had just finished first semester, he came to know that his institute is unsolicited and will be closed on account of bankruptcy. This was a shock, 6 months, lakhs of money wasted and on top of it, he is in absolutely new Country, no idea where to go and what to do.
On the other hand, Rajesh got Student visa in Canada from Ahmedabad through a very reputed consultancy services. He asked whether the institute is designated educational institute or not.(DLI means an institute which has approvals of provincial government to run the institute) (It is just like any school or college in India has affiliation certificate from recognized board or university). He ensured that the payments made by him are going to verified source. He also researched in depth about the institute on internet going through various Canadian government websites. This ensured him that he is going to right place in Quebec.
Now, with new rule released by Quebec government, Rohan and many other who are studying in private unsolicited institutes will not be granted work permit to work after graduation.
You should know if you are eligible to work after you graduate. It is not necessary that all designated learning institutions or all programs of study are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program.
To know if you are eligible for Post- Graduation work permit program, check on the government website where you input the name of your choice of university/ college in Canada, then select your course and see if it is offering Post-Graduation work permit, also there will some other criteria to make you eligible to work, but this is most important criteria.
AS per the government, this rule is made to protect the students from being cheated by private institutions and playing with future of students. They value the presence of International students and for their well-being it is important to keep a check on such institutions.
This news sounds to be negative, but in reality it is good for the students who are going to Canada with a wish to Become Canadian Permanent Resident. This will save students from being misguided by the agents in India and Institutes abroad. It will ensure that they become Permanent Resident from Student Visa.
